FBIT offers stimulating, innovative, market-driven programs that will prepare you for an exciting and successful career in a broad range of fields in business, information technology or both.

Our Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) program is designed to enhance your understanding of key business functions and systems technologies. You can select a major in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources Management, or Entrepreneurship.

Our Accounting program is accredited by Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Ontario; upon completion of all required courses, students are eligible to enter the CPA Professional Education Program. Our Finance major prepares you for the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) Global Education Inc. exam, and the professional designation of Chartered Financial Analyst. Our Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources Management major provides you with the courses needed to pursue the Certified Human Resources Leader professional designation. Our Entrepreneurship major prepares you to start your own business. 

Within our Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) program, you can choose our Game Development and Entrepreneurship or Networking and Information Technology (IT) Security major as a foundation for your future career. Our university is proud to offer you coursework that prepares you to pursue various levels of industry certification programs, including Cisco, CompTIA and (ISC)².

During your undergraduate studies, our faculty also offers you the unique chance to broaden your horizons and boost your career potential with our exciting international programs, which include opportunities for full-term exchanges, short study programs, and/or work placements abroad.

Following the successful completion of all second-year requirements, you may be able to participate in a contracted learning partnership with leading businesses in Durham Region or around the globe through our internship program. This program is designed to provide you with the opportunity to apply your skills to the challenges of business life and gain valuable practical experience, while also helping you develop networking and lifelong career success.  We also offer Capstone study projects, which enable you to obtain real-world business experience by working within a team to provide consulting services to one of our industry partners.

If graduate studies interest you, our faculty offers graduate programs with modern curriculums designed to prepare you with the skills and experience you need to impact society. Our innovative Master of Information Technology Security (MITS) program is one of only a few specialized IT Security graduate degrees available in the world. Options within the MSc and PhD in Computer Science within FBIT are designed to provide students with an in-depth knowledge of IT networking and security or serious gaming, enhanced by superior project management skills. Our Graduate Diploma in Accounting refines the knowledge and competencies from your undergraduate accounting studies and prepares you for the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) Capstone Modules 1 and 2 and for the CFE.

The unique blend of undergraduate and graduate research emphasized within our faculty provides you with a broader foundation and grasp of the multifaceted problems faced today by all members of our society.
