Dr. Wu joined the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) as a full Professor in 2003. He was the founding Director of the Management Development Centre. He developed the university's first master’s certificate programs in municipal management, project management and information technology management. Prior to joining UOIT, he was a full Professor in the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Regina, Saskatchewan.

His research interests include:

  • international business
  • international marketing
  • marketing of higher education
  • North American Free Trade Agreement
  • trade policy

He is particularly interested in research on international trade policy, globalization, and e-commerce. He has published articles in academic journals such as Management International Review, Columbia Journal of World Business, Journal of Marketing Management, International Marketing Review, Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, among others.

He has received numerous research and teaching awards, including the Teaching Excellence Award at the University of Regina. He has had visiting positions in several U.S. and Japanese universities, and has lectured extensively in Japan, Mexico and the U.S.

He is currently a board member of the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce. He has also served on the UOIT Board of Governors.
